A Pentatomic view of a Kemeri Bog at Kemeri National Park
Home to rare plants, diverse wildlife, ancient pine stands, and shimmering bog lakes, Ķemeri National Park invites every explorer to experience Latvia’s largest raised bogs. Walking its wooden trails feels like stepping into untouched wilderness, where golden grasses and deep green mosses contrast beautifully with dark, mirror-like waters. The landscape is ever-changing with light and season, offering magical moments. Early morning mist rolling over the bog or fiery sunsets painting the sky is a true paradise for nature lovers and photographers alike.
Situated in Ķemeri National Park, about 40 km west of Riga, it is easily accessible by car, train (to Ķemeri), or bicycle. A wonderful experience not to miss when visiting Latvia.
The boardwalk is one of the most unique experiences to enjoy, offering a perfect blend of joy and adventure. Walking through the heart of the bog, you are surrounded by striking views of moss carpets, pine stands, and shimmering bog lakes that feel both wild and serene. The longer 3.4 km loop leads to a wooden viewing tower, where panoramic vistas of the vast landscape take your breath away. For a shorter stroll, the 1.4 km route is equally captivating, revealing the charm of this pristine ecosystem in a lighter walk. Both trails left us with an unforgettable sense of untouched wilderness, making it a truly remarkable highlight of our visit.
